_I am a high school English teacher with Chicago Public Schools. Teaching was not my first career choice; I was a Broadcast Journalism major in college, and worked on my schools radio station as a producer, not talent. However, I changed my mind about journalism after The O.J. Simpson trial. After college I held a number of jobs either as an Administrative Assistant or Receptionist until the Dot.com crash of '99/2000! That is when I fell for a dare to substitute teach; it was then I felt my consciousness stir. The rest has been the usual path to teaching certification. Despite the obstacles, roadblocks and challenges, I have not wavered in my desire to education and demonstrate.
